Students from the Murchana Music Education Centre displayed their musical training during an annual cultural programme held at the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Auditorium in Guwahati on July 17, 2022. Assam Times reported that a packed audience watched learners perform instrumental and vocal pieces spanning Assamese, Hindi and western genres. The institute, operating since 2000 under principal Hiranya Kalita and instructor Barnali Kalita, focuses on providing practical stage experience for students studying guitar, piano, keyboard, violin and voice.
The event began with traditional lamp lighting by flutist Parameshwar Basumatary and tributes to musical figures including Lata Mangeshkar and Bappi Lahiri. Young artists performed various compositions, while the 2022 programme introduced classical dance forms such as Bharatanatyam, Kathak and Bihu alongside vocal renditions. The institute is affiliated with the Musicea Arts and Culture Council and strives to provide regular performance opportunities for its students. The gathering concluded with certificate and trophy distributions to recognize student achievements.
