Music & Arts has just announced a new recognition program called the Music Educator of the Year award. The program aims to honor music educators across the country that exemplify outstanding achievements in music education. A formal award presentation will take place during the 69th Annual Midwest Conference in Chicago at the Palmer House Hilton on December 17th from 6 p.m. -10 p.m. Music & Arts’ president, Steve Zapf, will present the award.
”As the largest music retailer in the country, we’re thrilled to see hundreds of thousands of individuals interested in learning music, but we know we couldn’t do what we do without the extraordinary efforts made my music educators across the country,” said Kenny O’Brien, CEO, Music & Arts. “We’re looking forward to reviewing the entries and identifying our music educator of the year.” In addition to an award plaque, the recipient of the Music Educator of the Year award will also receive a $1,000 Music & Arts credit and a feature article published on MusicArts.com. Additionally, all registered event guests will be entered in a sweepstakes, valued at more than $15,000, to win instruments or school music workshops led by Dr. Michael Fenoglio, Pat Sheridan, or Frank Catalano. Executive leaders from major music brands such as Buffet Group, Conn-Selmer, and KHS America, will be in attendance. There will also be live entertainment from the Boston Brass, Bill Porter Orchestra, and Fort Zumwalt North High School Jazz Band. “This event will have great musicians, respected music educators, and some of the top instrument brands in the industry under one roof which I think is a great way to represent the full circle of music education because you can’t have one of these groups without the other,” said Renier Fee, director of marketing, Music & Arts. “I think this will be one of those events that helps you remember why you got involved in music or will at least show how important music is.”
