A new freelance music teacher, Lynsey Wrightson, is set to bring over two decades of experience to north Cumbria, starting next month from her base in Carlisle. Newsandstar.co.uk reported that Wrightson previously spent 23 years as director of music at Hunter Hall School in Penrith, a role she held for more than two decades.
Wrightson intends to provide piano and singing lessons for adults and children, alongside offering support and development to primary schools in the region. She expressed a desire to “share my passion for inspiring musical creativity with people of all ages and abilities in a more individualised way.” Her career began with a degree from the University of Cumbria (formerly St Martin’s) and a position at a primary school in Blackpool.
During her time at Hunter Hall, Wrightson coordinated and conducted the annual Penrith Schools Carol Concert for 20 years, involving over 400 pupils from 14 schools. This event, held at St Andrew’s Church in Penrith, highlighted her commitment to music education within the community. She has already begun working with StagedRight, a theatre school in Carlisle, to provide one-to-one singing lessons for its students. David McNeill, managing director of StagedRight, described Wrightson as a “welcome addition to our brilliant creative team.”
