WTAE reported that students at North Hills High School were welcomed by the school band on their first day back. Superintendent Patrick Mannarino noted the excitement as students arrived, stating he could hear the music from the student parking lot. He encouraged students to work hard and do their best, emphasizing that the district supports students and teachers throughout the year.
In addition to the musical welcome, WTAE reported the district launched the Stopfinder app to assist families with transportation. The tool allows parents to track buses and receive geo-alerts when vehicles reach specific points. Director of Communications Heather Pelat said the technology offers peace of mind, especially for families with younger children. The system serves district students and approximately 300 children attending outside schools who use North Hills transportation. Parent Nataly Price said having all four of her children in one space to track helps her coordinate schedules and see when they are getting home.
