The India-Malaysia International Cultural Festival 2026 gave more than 150 students and 50 teachers and principals from six schools an international platform for music education and cross-cultural exchange, according to Borok Times. India’s Art & Aesthetics Foundation organized the six-day event, which ran from October 17 to 22 and included participants from India, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Borok Times reported that a vocal masterclass led by Chanshim Makunga, a soprano and voice trainer who is an alumna of the Nagaland Conservatory of Music, was a key highlight. Makunga, whose specializations include Western classical and contemporary voice and choral music, conducted the session on October 19 at the Faculty of Creative Arts, University of Malaya, offering participants professional vocal training.
The festival opened at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur, where young participants presented classical, folk and contemporary performances. Educational engagements also took place at the University of Cyberjaya and the University of Malaya, plus a cultural program in Ipoh. Senior artists and educators led sessions combining artistic practice with cross-cultural learning, giving students opportunities to develop skills and learn from international peers, Borok Times reported.
