Onward State reported that the Penn State School of Music will host a free “Music in the Gardens” concert at the university Arboretum on Thursday, September 10. The event features the Penn State Symphonic Wind Ensemble under the direction of conductor Tonya Mitchell-Spradlin, offering a diverse musical program for the campus and surrounding community.
The school invites students, faculty and visitors to enjoy music in a picturesque setting. Guests are encouraged to arrive early for family-friendly activities, including an instrument petting zoo in the Children’s Garden where families can explore various instruments before the main performance. Students from the State College Music Academy are also scheduled to perform around the grounds prior to the evening concert. Food trucks will begin service at 4 p.m. The school advises attendees to bring blankets or chairs as no seating is provided. This event offers live performance and instrumental exploration to students, faculty and local residents without cost barriers.
