Pennsylvania schools are preparing to host major marching band championship competitions this fall, giving student ensembles across the state opportunities to compete at premier venues.

Yahoo reported that Central Dauphin’s Landis Field will host the US Bands Pennsylvania State Championships on Oct. 31 for the I A and IV A divisions, featuring ensembles from Trinity, Susquehanna Township, Upper Dauphin, East Pennsboro, Carlisle, Central Dauphin and defending national champion Halifax. Additional US Bands state championships will be held at Upper Moreland and Downingtown West for other divisions, with Biglerville, Camp Hill, Northern York, Conestoga Valley, Central Dauphin East, Mechanicsburg and West Shore participating.

Mifflin County High School will host the Tournament of Bands Pennsylvania State Championships on Oct. 31 at Donald M. Chapman III Stadium near Lewistown. Superintendent Vance Varner told abc27 News that the district is proud to welcome the event and excited to have the Mifflin County High School Band competing. Mifflin County took first place in their division at last year’s state championships in Altoona.

National championships are scheduled for J. Birney Crum Stadium in Allentown on Nov. 7 and 8. Cavalcade of Bands will hold its championships at Dallastown and New Oxford high schools on Nov. 7.
