Perth music teacher charged with child exploitation offenses

A music teacher employed at several metropolitan private schools in Perth has been charged with producing child exploitation material and indecently recording children. The West Australian reported that police allegedly discovered indecent recordings of minors and other exploitative content on the educator’s electronic devices during an investigation by the WA Police child abuse squad.

The 34-year-old Hillarys resident, who also provides private music tutoring outside school hours, faces three counts of producing child exploitation material and two counts of indecently recording a child between the ages of 13 and 16. The educator is scheduled to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Detectives are urging anyone with information regarding the alleged inappropriate behavior involving children to come forward. Reports can be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or online. Anyone affected by the alleged offending or with relevant information can also make a report through the Safe2Say online reporting platform.
