The 2016–17 season of Philharmonic Free Fridays begins this month. Now in its third season, Philharmonic Free Fridays offers 100 free tickets to young people ages 13–26 to each of the season’s 16 Friday evening subscription concerts.
Almost 4,000 Philharmonic Free Friday tickets have been distributed to young people throughout New York to date.
The online portal for the next Free Friday opens Monday, October 3rd at noon. That performance, October 7 at 8:00 p.m., features Music Director Alan Gilbert conducting the New York Philharmonic in Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre, for Trumpet and Orchestra, featuring Principal Trumpet Christopher Martin in his Philharmonic debut; Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, with Lang Lang as soloist; and Bartók’s Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta.
