A Czech chamber ensemble will perform Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons at Edinburgh’s Greyfriars Kirk on Friday, Nov. 6, with concerts at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., The Edinburgh Reporter reported. Organizers said the later concert is almost sold out, though tickets remain for the earlier performance.
The concerts are part of the 30th Made in Prague Festival, organized by the Czech Centre London to celebrate Czech music and culture. The program includes Mozart’s Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Bach’s Air on the G String, Pachelbel’s Canon in D and Handel’s Water Music, according to the report.
Young Czech violinist Matteo Hager, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music currently pursuing a master’s degree at London’s Royal College of Music, will take center stage as soloist for Vivaldi’s four violin concertos depicting the seasons. Hager has received the Christopher Hogwood Scholarship, the report said.
The earlier concert runs from 5 p.m. to approximately 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the 5 p.m. performance can be booked online, with further information available on the orchestra’s website, The Edinburgh Reporter noted.
