The Provincial Council of Almería has approved construction of a new music school in Vícar designed to serve more than 500 students, El Congresista reported. The project represents a total investment exceeding 4 million euros, with the provincial body providing 70 percent of funding and the local city council covering the remaining 30 percent to expand access to musical education in the region.
Located on a plot adjacent to the IES Puebla de Vícar, the four-story facility will span 2,256.03 square meters as a multifunctional space. According to El Congresista, the center will include specialized rooms for wind, string, piano, and percussion instruments, alongside a library-phonothek and an outdoor scenic courtyard. Each teaching space will feature advanced technology and acoustic insulation.
Provincial Council President José Antonio García Alcaina stated the school addresses a long-standing municipal demand and aims to foster cultural growth across neighboring localities. Vícar Mayor Antonio Bonilla emphasized that the classrooms will possess conservatory-level characteristics, reflecting effective institutional collaboration. The initiative seeks to provide equal opportunities for residents interested in pursuing music studies within the Poniente district.
