The Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra recently premiered ‘Nour, Anna and the Wise Fools’ at the Katara Drama Theatre. This performance marked the opening event of the inaugural Children and Family Festival, which was co-hosted by the World Innovation Summit for Education and Qatar Music Academy.
Under the baton of MAias Alyamani, the orchestra performed Richard Strauss compositions while ACTory, a theatrical partnership between Tamara Schäfer and Svetlana Schmitz, joined the ensemble on stage. The production told the story of Nour leaving the desert for city life and making a new friend, blending live music, acting, shadow play, and audience participation. Two additional family concerts are planned for the festival, including Peter and the Wolf this Friday, with the Qatar Youth Orchestra scheduled to perform on Saturday.
