Rosemount High School marching band selected for third Rose Parade appearance

Rosemount High School’s marching band will perform in the 2027 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. Hometownsource.com reported that this marks the third time the ensemble has participated, the most selections of any high school. The band, a 15-time Youth in Music Minnesota State Marching Band champion, secured its spot after directors submitted an application in March 2025.

Co-director Leon Sieve described the process, which required recommendation letters, uniform photos and videos of parade and field show performances. From more than 25,000 applicant schools, only eight are selected annually. Sieve noted that aside from Rosemount’s appearances since 2014, no other Minnesota school has been chosen since 1993. To prepare for the 5.5-mile route, students are building endurance and refining techniques, with practices moving indoors to the Irish Dome as weather cools.

The program celebrated the selection during an Aug. 26 event attended by Tournament of Roses President Terry Madigan. Sieve called the evening spectacular, praising the community turnout and support for the students. The parade is scheduled for Jan. 1, 2027, and the band is accepting online donations to help cover travel expenses.
