Salem High School Marching Band Showcases Field Show

The Salem High School Marching Band recently presented its annual Band Camp Demonstration at Veterans Memorial Fieldhouse, salemk12.org reported. The event showcased a portion of the band’s upcoming field show, titled ‘Diamonds in the Sky.’

Under the direction of Coordinator of Music Ben Chertok, the band first completed preparation routines and basic exercises before performing for the audience. The two-time New England School Bands Association (NESBA) Champion band offered a glimpse of the show’s choreography and musical selections, according to salemk12.org.

The Salem High School Marching Band is scheduled to perform at the Feast of St. Anthony in Boston’s North End on Sunday, August 30. The band’s full debut of ‘Diamonds in the Sky’ will occur on Friday, September 11, during halftime of the school’s football game against KIPP Academy Lynn, salemk12.org stated.

The demonstration provided an opportunity for educators, students, and families to witness the progress of the ensemble and anticipate the curriculum’s full presentation. Access to music education and performance opportunities remains a priority for the Salem School District, as evidenced by the band’s continued success and public appearances.
