Linda Muir retired from Denny High School in Scotland after a 40-year music-education career, Falkirk Council reported. She spent 29 years at Denny High, where she served as principal teacher of music.
Muir began teaching at Woodlands High School after studying at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and completing teacher training at Jordanhill. She also supported Falkirk Council concerts and New Found Sound events.
Her career spanned a shift from classroom lessons centered on singing and recorder to programs in which students use tablets for recording, backing tracks and online learning materials. Muir said broader access to instruments and musical styles has been one of the most important changes she observed.
Denny High head teacher Geraldine McGuinness credited Muir with a lasting impact on the school and the wider local authority. Muir said concerts and school productions remained among her most significant experiences because they gave students opportunities to share their work and build confidence.
