The Seoul Urban Life Museum will host a cultural festival on August 15 to mark the anniversary of Korea’s liberation from Japanese colonial rule in 1945, koreatimes.co.kr reported.
The Culture Flows Through the Museum festival will run from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and feature a mix of classical music performances and hands-on family activities, according to koreatimes.co.kr. A concert by the Nowon District Youth Symphony Orchestra is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., performing pieces selected to reflect the significance of Liberation Day, including Ferdinand David’s “Trombone Concerto” and Giuseppe Verdi’s “Song of Victory,” koreatimes.co.kr reported.
The Nowon District Youth Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1997 and managed by the Nowon Cultural Foundation, consists of local teenagers and is a key part of the district’s performing arts scene, koreatimes.co.kr reported. This is the third consecutive year the museum and the Nowon Cultural Foundation have collaborated, beginning in 2024, to bring orchestral music to community spaces, according to koreatimes.co.kr.
Family activities will begin at 1 p.m., including tote bag and keychain creation, and a Mini Olympics with team-based games, koreatimes.co.kr reported. Museum director Choi Hyeong-soo stated that the event highlights the museum’s partnership with local cultural organizations to enrich community life, according to koreatimes.co.kr.
The Seoul Urban Life Museum, which opened in September 2019 as a branch of the Seoul Museum of History, is located in Nowon District and focuses on the daily lives and history of Seoul residents, koreatimes.co.kr reported.
