The Music School of Las Cigarreras, affiliated with the bugles and drums ensemble Nuestra Señora de la Victoria, has opened its new school year with more than 100 students enrolled, according to Diario de Sevilla. The report attributes the strong participation to the ensemble’s preparation and current performance level.
Diario de Sevilla reported that the renovated school has divided instrumental instruction into three levels — beginner, intermediate and advanced — and musical language into two levels, aiming to tailor training to each student’s progress. JoaquÃn Badillo serves as educational director and teaches bugle and musical language, while Mario Rescalvo handles teaching coordination, the publication reported.
The teaching staff includes professionals with education degrees or academic specialization in their instruments, Diario de Sevilla reported. Juan Antonio MartÃnez teaches bugle; Maleni Barranco teaches trumpet; Fernando Méndez and Julio DÃaz cover euphonium, trombone and tuba; and José Luis Sagrado teaches percussion.
The school is affiliated with the Asociación Cultural para el Fomento de la Música, which holds a framework agreement with Progreso Musical de Madrid, enabling the school to officially teach Elementary Grade courses with regulated validity, according to Diario de Sevilla. Lectures and masterclasses with invited professionals are planned throughout the year, with the first scheduled around the 2026 feast of Santa Cecilia.
