Shanghai Conservatory of Music Releases Special Program for Intelligent Music Composition

On October 10, the Shanghai Conservatory of Music held an opening ceremony for its new Special Program for Intelligent Music Composition, designed to train urgently needed composite talents in the field of intelligent music creation. The event took place in the Experts Building on the afternoon of the same day. The program is positioned as “centered on composition, using intelligence as a tool,” aiming to promote the deep integration of music art with cutting-edge digital technologies such as artificial intelligence. Dean Liao Changyong and Vice Dean Feng Lei, along with industry mentor representatives like Jin Ruifeng, director of Audio Vivid Technology at the World Ultra-HD Video Industry Alliance, attended the ceremony.

The program aims to achieve three breakthroughs: breaking down disciplinary barriers, connecting domestic and international high-quality resources, and linking classroom teaching with industrial practice. Dean Liao emphasized that in the age of artificial intelligence, music education must evolve, and the program is the Conservatory’s response to this challenge. He encouraged students to maintain their artistic roots, innovate in human-machine collaborative creation, and take on the mission of enriching the spiritual and cultural lives of the people through music. Faculty representatives Chen Qiangbin and Dai Weiyi also spoke, highlighting the Conservatory’s exploration in music technology and the recognition from leading enterprises.
