Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason collaborated with Glasshouse’s Young Sinfonia on October 18, 2026, as part of The Glasshouse’s Make Music Young People programme. According to Music Mark, the performance showcased a unique musical pairing.
During the event, a significant portion of the ensemble featured 24 cellos playing together in a massed cello group. The musical selections included Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 1 and Gershwin’s well-known ‘Summertime.’ Music Mark reported on this collaborative performance.
Kanneh-Mason, who previously received the BBC Young Musician award in 2016 and performed at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in 2018, also achieved a UK Top 10 album with Elgar in 2020. The Glasshouse provides opportunities for its young musicians, including workshops led by visiting artists and a Centre for Advanced Training.
