December 2015, Chicago, IL – The small West Texas town of Crosbyton has many student accomplishments to be proud of over the past several years. However, the band program had fallen on difficult times over the last 30 years, scoring 3’s and 4’s at contests and playing on very poor equipment. In two short years, the program has turned its fortunes around, crediting JUNO Reeds as a crucial part of this success.

Since 2014, the band program has made significant improvements. Based on the program’s amazingly quick turnaround, it has been awarded a significant instrument grant, and better funding and new uniforms from the school board. In 2015, the band staff accelerated their five-year goals, achieving all 1’s at marching festivals and their UIL regional contest, and ultimately resulting in the school’s first invitation to the Texas State Marching Band Championships.

Due to this school district being in a high poverty area, the directors have worked with various entities to supply better equipment and better staffing for their students. One such partner has been Vandoren. Without Vandoren’s help, students in this particular area would not have the funds or access to play on quality reeds. Vandoren supplies this little band with JUNO reeds as an early adopter and have contributed to the amazing turn-around from low ratings to an invitation to the State Marching Championships in just two seasons. Crosbyton High School is one of only 13 bands in this classification (1A) received this honor – and JUNO reeds (Vandoren) were a part of this success!
