A national programme designed to strengthen South Africa’s creative industries has successfully placed 1,500 workers across the country, surpassing its initial target of 1,000 placements. Music In Africa reported that the initiative, operating under the banner NEFCISA, is a collaboration between the Music In Africa Foundation and the Industrial Development Corporation.
The project utilizes the Social Employment Fund to address skills gaps while generating work for the common good. According to the report, the initiative is recruiting and training participants, matching them with host organizations. Twenty host organizations spanning five provinces are actively hosting participants and contributing to work for the common good across South Africa’s creative and cultural industries.
Key objectives of the programme include offering skills development training and fostering partnerships between public and private entities. The effort aims to promote local creativity at provincial and national levels while driving community development through social contribution. By focusing on inclusive economic participation, the initiative seeks to build lasting community value through sustained employment opportunities in the arts.
