Parkersburg South High School senior Macie Forshey is preparing for a career in music education, driven by her extensive involvement in the school’s choral programs. The Marietta Times reported that Forshey’s journey into music began unexpectedly in eighth grade when a basketball-related concussion forced her to take time off from sports, leading her to discover a passion for singing during her recovery.
According to the report, Forshey has participated in choir for five years and recently expanded her skill set by learning guitar to accompany vocalists, directly supporting her goal of becoming an educator. Her experiences include performing in joint concerts with neighboring Parkersburg High School during rivalry week and attending the Governor’s School for the Arts at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
