Southend seeks lead officer to oversee music service and 50 teachers

Southend-on-Sea City Council is recruiting a permanent Lead Officer for Music on Sea, its local authority music service, a position that will oversee up to 50 peripatetic music teachers and one Music Support Officer, according to a job listing reported by Music Mark.

The role will lead the design, development, management and delivery of music services for Southend, working with partners, funders, stakeholders and young people. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership as the service continues its transition into the centrally coordinated Greater Essex Music Hub, Music Mark reported.

The Lead Officer will deliver and manage the activities of the Southend Schools’ Music Service within the context of the National Plan for Music Education. The post is based at the Civic Centre at least two days per week, with agile work across schools and settings in Southend, plus the option to work from home as agreed.

Music Mark noted that the listing is provided by an external organisation and that it does not endorse the content or accept liability for the accuracy of the material. Applicants are asked to submit a CV and a supporting statement of no more than two pages evidencing how they meet the specification.
