Sphinx Competition winner violinist Annelle K. Gregory wins first place $50,000 Robert Frederick Smith Prize in the Senior Division and cellist Ifetayo Ali-Landing wins first place $10,000 award in the Junior Division.
21-year-old violinist Annelle K. Gregory, a student at USC Thornton School of Music, was awarded 1st place in the Senior Division on Sunday, February 12, 2017. She will receive a $50,000 award and have the opportunity to be featured with Sphinx Soloist Program Partners.
Annelle was also the recipient of Sphinx’s Audience Choice Award sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.
Cellist Santiago Cañón Valencia won 2nd place with a $20,000 award. Cellist Gabriel Martins won 3rd place with a $10,000 prize.

14-year-old cellist Ifetayo Ali-Landing, from Chicago, IL, won 1st place in the Junior Division Sphinx Competition on Friday, February 10, 2017. Ifetayo will receive a $10,000 award and have the opportunity to be featured with Sphinx Soloist Program Partners.
