The St. Marys Area High School “Flying Dutch” Marching Band has launched its 2026 competitive season with strong results, The Courier Express reported. Under the direction of Felicia Quinn, the ensemble performed in DuBois in September and in South Tioga last weekend, earning first and second place respectively.
The band is presenting a competitive show titled “Ghost Ship,” composed by Randall Standridge. According to The Courier Express, the program follows a captain and crew navigating the treacherous waters of Shadow Cove in search of hidden treasure. The journey takes a terrifying turn when they encounter the Siren’s Song, a ghost ship crewed by phantom pirates cursed to guard their stolen loot.
The publication described the production as filled with mystery and dramatic flair, taking audiences on a maritime ride where dead men tell no tales. The early-season placements signal a promising start for the student musicians as they continue their competitive schedule.
