Top finishing bands in the 2026 SNEAKER AGES Thailand competition will receive full four-year undergraduate scholarships from Dhurakij Pundit University (DPU), according to a report by the Bangkok Post. This collaboration between DPU and Siam Music Yamaha aims to bridge competitive music platforms with formal educational pathways for Thai youth.
The Bangkok Post reported that the initiative provides 100 percent tuition coverage valued at 350,000 baht per student to members of the winner, first runner-up, and second runner-up bands. Dr. Perawat Chookhiatti, managing director of Siam Music Yamaha, stated that the partnership connects young musicians to degree programs, allowing them to leverage their talents for future careers beyond performing.
The competition format actively involves schools and teachers, allocating support awards to participating institutions to foster continuous youth development. Dr. Darika Lathapipat, president of DPU, emphasized that musical ability is a crucial skill that extends learning beyond academic classrooms. Scholarship recipients may enroll in any faculty except nursing, medical technology, or physical therapy, provided they maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00. Students not yet eligible for university can preserve their scholarship rights until ready to enroll, ensuring long-term access to higher education through music.
