Because of backing from PNC Bank, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s (DSO) pops programming will now be called the PNC Pops Series.

“PNC has a long history of support for the DSO and many other vital arts and culture organizations in the region,” said Ric DeVore, PNC regional president for Detroit and Southeast Michigan. “At PNC, we recognize that access to quality arts experiences enriches lives and builds stronger and more vibrant communities.”

“The DSO and PNC Bank have forged a strong partnership going back nearly 30 years to the restoration of Orchestra Hall in the 1980s,” said Anne Parsons, president and CEO of the DSO. “This new commitment by PNC to support the presentation of popular orchestral music on the Orchestra Hall stage is a welcomed extension to our recent collaboration to offer live music experiences to Detroit school children.  We are absolutely thrilled and honored to rename our Pops Series to recognize PNC’s leadership impact on our mission and in our community.”

“The DSO is one of America’s greatest orchestras, and I have been thrilled to make music with the incredible DSO musicians for the past fifteen years,” says Jeff Tyzik, DSO principal pops conductor. “It’s an honor to be in a city where a company like PNC recognizes and is enthusiastic about investing in artistic excellence.”

PNC has been supporting the DSO’s Educational Concert Series since 2013, and the PNC Foundation provides funding for “Grow Up Great with the DSO,” to deliver in-school music education.

Tickets are on sale now for all 2017-18 PNC Pops Series programs.
