Towson University Marching Band selected for Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

The Towson University Marching Band has been invited to perform in the 101st Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, marking the ensemble’s first return to the nationally televised New York City event since 2009.

According to 98online.com, the university announced the selection following the band’s Homecoming performance at Johnny Unitas Stadium. The invitation follows a highly competitive application process in which Macy’s chooses a small number of marching bands from hundreds of applicants nationwide each year.

Towson University President Mark Ginsberg said in a statement that being selected recognizes years of hard work, artistic excellence and dedication by students, directors and the broader university community. He called it an extraordinary achievement that will allow band members to showcase their talent on a national stage.

Director of Athletic Bands Taylor Yozwiak said in a statement that the opportunity represents the culmination of years of dedication from students, staff and the marching band community. Yozwiak described the invitation as an incredible honor and a testament to the passion and talent of band members.

Preparations for the 2027 parade are already underway, including extensive planning, travel coordination and fundraising to support student transportation, lodging, meals and equipment costs associated with the trip, 98online.com reported.
