Tri-Valley Band students perform at three community events in one day

Tri-Valley Secondary School band students performed at three separate community events in a single day, packing and moving equipment between each venue over six hours, according to trivalleycsd.org.

The October 3 schedule began with students riding a hay wagon in the Daniel Pierce Library’s Giant Pumpkin Party Parade, performing classic marches and rock and pop tunes. The full high school band then delivered a concert at the fairgrounds pavilion, opening with “Malagueña” and closing with “Bohemian Rhapsody,” trivalleycsd.org reported. The concert was prepared in only three weeks following a two-month summer break, while many band programs were still rebuilding range, endurance and technique, the district said.

After the concert, students moved equipment to the Iatauro Sports Complex, where the pep band played the National Anthem and roughly two dozen pep songs during a home football game against Rockland School District, according to trivalleycsd.org. Several students then carried instruments, chairs and equipment up a flight of stairs to the band room.

The Tri-Valley Music Department will host the Zone 9 Area All State Music Festival on November 21, with two concerts featuring top New York State musicians, the district said. December events include winter concerts and a jazz band performance at the Government Center holiday series.
