The Mountaineer reported that Tuscola High School’s Marching Mountaineers will host a special alumni night on Friday, Sept. 25, designed to unite former members with the current ensemble and future participants. The event, titled “Past, Present and Future of Tuscola Band,” coincides with the school’s home football game and aims to celebrate the program’s enduring traditions.
According to the report, the Tuscola Band Boosters will provide light food and beverages for a gathering before the contest. Eighth-grade band students from Waynesville Middle School and their parents are also invited to attend, fostering connections across different stages of music education. Festivities begin with tailgating at 6 p.m. near the concession stands and the band truck.
The Mountaineer noted that alumni are encouraged to bring their instruments to sit with the current band in the stands and perform fight songs during the game. Before kickoff, former members may watch the pregame performance from the sideline and join the ensemble for the national anthem and school fight song. This initiative highlights the value of community engagement in sustaining school music programs.
