MANILA, Philippines – The U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Band performed a free concert at the SM Mall of Asia Sky Amphitheater on June 28, celebrating the enduring friendship between the United States and the Philippines through music, according to DVIDS.
The concert commemorated several milestones in the relationship between the two nations: the 250th anniversary of American Independence, 80 years of diplomatic relations, and the upcoming 75th anniversary of the Mutual Defense Treaty. The performance featured a blend of American classics, contemporary selections, and Filipino favorites, drawing applause and sing-alongs from audience members of all ages. Chief Warrant Officer 2 Aaron Carpenter, officer in charge of Marine Corps Forces Pacific Band, said, “Music is one of the few things that can bring people together instantly.”
Sgt. Sgt Marci Huggler, a musician with the U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific Band, added that the concert provided an opportunity to connect with the audience and represent the Marine Corps beyond military service. The concert reflected the enduring ties between the two nations and the friendships that continue to grow beyond formal military engagements.
