UdeG Music student places second in Ukraine competition

Mariana Villaseñor Vargas, a 17-year-old student in the Music Technician program at the University of Guadalajara, secured second place in the Solo Academic Music category at the Spring Hit Parade in Ukraine. According to a report by udg.mx, this achievement follows her previous second-place finish at the Autumn Leaves competition.

The source states that Villaseñor performed Henryk Wieniawski’s Mazurka in A minor Op.3 No. 2 Kujawiak. Her specific competition group included two Ukrainians and one Mexican. She began playing the violin at age eight after observing children practice during a family outing, receiving her first instrument two years later despite having no musicians in her family. The university noted that preparing the piece presented a challenge due to the limited timeframe required to master the composer’s style and interpretation.

Villaseñor expressed initial apprehension that people around the world would listen to her performance but emphasized the importance of perseverance. As detailed by udg.mx, she encouraged her classmates to pursue their aspirations regardless of external opinions, asserting that dedicated effort leads to meaningful outcomes. The article concludes with her advice to always be what one wants to be.
