The Vermont Symphony Orchestra is prioritizing youth exposure to classical music through school educational performances and accessible programming across the state, The Vermont Journal & The Shopper – reported.
Executive Director Elise Brunelle spoke to the Ludlow Rotary Club about the orchestra’s varied programs, noting that its 80-90 musicians perform more than 40 concerts statewide annually. Those offerings range from small ensembles and school educational performances to full orchestra concerts and large outdoor events, according to the report.
The orchestra’s goal is to make music accessible to all Vermonters, with free ensemble performances such as a wind ensemble concert scheduled for Ludlow’s Heald Auditorium on Oct. 18. A full orchestra concert featuring Judy Collins is planned for the Paramount Theater in Rutland on Nov. 14.
Brunelle, who has served as executive director since 2020, said Music Director Andrew Crust posts regular Facebook videos as part of the organization’s ongoing effort to reach Vermonters in all parts of the state. The statewide orchestra was founded in 1934.
