Patch reported that the Westfield High School Marching Blue Devils will host a community car wash fundraiser on Wednesday, Aug. 19, to support students preparing for the upcoming marching band season. The event is scheduled from 3:30 to 6 p.m. in the parking lots at Westfield High School and Edison Intermediate School.
Community members are invited to bring vehicles or bicycles for washing, with all proceeds going directly to the school’s marching band program. Band director Chris Vitale stated that the funds raised will provide resources and opportunities to enhance the student experience. According to the announcement, revenue will help offset various seasonal expenses tied to the group’s performance schedule, including travel costs, equipment, instruments, uniforms and competition entry fees.
Vitale expressed appreciation for the Westfield community’s support, noting that students are working hard to prepare for their busy season. The fundraiser aims to assist the ensemble with financial needs associated with its scheduled performances.
