Students from the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles received an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at production preparations for Jay-Z’s JAŸ-Z30 shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, KTLA reported.
The Friday morning visit gave the young musicians a firsthand view of the staging for the Oct. 23 and 24 performances, which celebrate the 30th anniversary of the rapper’s debut album “Reasonable Doubt.”
During the visit, students met with Jay-Z’s music director, Omar Edwards, who discussed his experience working with the Grammy Award winner and explained the creative process behind bringing a stadium show of that scale to life. KTLA reported that Edwards told the students such large productions begin in smaller spaces.
Edwards also offered guidance for aspiring musicians, encouraging them to follow their passion and heart while remaining disciplined and committed. He stressed the importance of not comparing one’s personal journey to another person’s path, according to KTLA.
The event connected the next generation of Los Angeles musicians with one of hip-hop’s most influential live music teams, providing an educational glimpse into professional touring and production careers.
