MUSIC TEACHER JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Music Teacher

Location: St. Theresa Catholic School, Des Moines

Reports To: Administrator

Position Summary

St. Theresa Catholic School in Des Moines is seeking a passionate and faith-filled part-time K–8 Music Teacher to lead and grow our vibrant music program. The ideal candidate will foster a love of music while supporting the mission of Catholic education.

Essential Responsibilities

• Planning and delivering engaging general music instruction for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade

• Preparing students for school liturgies, prayer services, concerts, and special events

• Directing student performances and coordinating seasonal programs

• Integrating music theory, vocal development, movement, and instrumental experiences

• Collaborating with faculty to support school-wide initiatives and faith formation

• Maintaining a positive, organized, and inclusive classroom environment

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field

• Valid Iowa teaching license (or ability to obtain)

• Strong classroom management and communication skills

• Commitment to Catholic education and the mission of the school
