House Manager (Part-Time Event Staff)
$35.00/hour | $52.50/hour overtime (after 8 hours worked in a single event day)

Advancement Opportunity: House Managers may train as A/V House Managers to earn a higher hourly rate while providing technical support during events.

Position Summary
The House Manager is the on-site representative of the Donald M. Gay Performing Arts Center during events. Working under the direction of the Performing Arts Operations Manager, the House Manager oversees day-of facility operations, assists renters, coordinates event logistics, and ensures the venue is safe, secure, and ready for guests. This position focuses on venue management, not producing or directing the event.

Key Responsibilities
Open and secure the facility rental rooms before, during, and after events.
Prepare the theater and front-of-house/back-of-house spaces for renters and guests.
Follow the event rental agreement/timeline and serve as the primary venue contact on event day.
Coordinate with custodial staff to ensure work orders are completed.
Assist renters with tables, chairs, and basic venue setup as needed.
Support volunteer usher teams with guest flow and audience management.
Monitor the building to ensure guests remain in approved event areas. Set up stanchions, gates, and barriers to protect school property.
Report any incidents, maintenance needs, damages, and injuries that occurred during the event to the managing director.
Report suspicious activity to the building Principal, or emergency services as appropriate.
Ensure renters remove all personal property and restore spaces at the conclusion of each event.
Commitment to understanding and enforcing all DMG PAC policies, Auburn School Department regulations, and theater operating procedures while representing the venue in a professional manner.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience in customer service, event operations, hospitality, theatre, facilities, or a related field preferred.
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and remain calm in fast-paced environments.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with basic event setup and breakdown.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on the event schedule.
Basic knowledge of theater operations is preferred; A/V experience is an asset for advancement opportunities.
