Audio-Visual House Manager (Part-Time Event Staff)
$45.00/hour | $67.50/hour overtime (after 8 hours worked in a single event day)
Position Summary
The House Manager / A/V Technician serves as the on-site representative of the Donald M. Gay Performing Arts Center during events while also operating the venue's audio, lighting, and projection systems. Working under the direction of the Performing Arts Operations Manager, this position ensures the facility is event-ready, supports renters, and provides professional technical operation for concerts, dance recitals, graduations, ceremonies, pageants, meetings, and community events.
Key Responsibilities
Perform all House Manager duties, including opening, securing, and resetting the facility.
Set up and operate the theater's sound, lighting, projection, microphones, and presentation systems.
Program basic lighting cues and audio playback for concerts, dance recitals, graduations, pageants, and similar events.
Conduct pre-event equipment checks and troubleshoot technical issues during events.
Meet with clients to review technical requirements and event timelines.
Assist with stage setup, podiums, tables, chairs, and basic production needs.
Coordinate with performers, presenters, and visiting production teams.
Ensure all A/V equipment is properly shut down, stored, and reset after each event.
Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, and facility concerns to the Performing Arts Operations Manager.
Report any incidents, damages, and facility and technical concerns to the managing director.
Ensure the facility remains safe, secure, and compliant with DMG PAC policies throughout the event.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience operating audio, lighting, and projection systems for live events, or equivalent theatre/production experience.
Willingness to learn and operate the DMG PAC's lighting, sound, projection, and stage systems.
Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm and troubleshoot under pressure during live events.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and assist with event setup and breakdown.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
Must read, understand, and adhere to all DMG PAC policies, Auburn School Department policies, safety procedures, and theater operating standards.
