Germantown Academy is seeking a dedicated, experienced, and versatile Performing Arts Teacher to serve as a maternity leave substitute during the end of the 1st Semester and beginning of the 2nd Semester in the 2026-2027 school year. Reporting to the Belfry Director and US Performing Arts Department Head, this individual will be responsible for teaching a range of Upper School dance classes, serve as the Upper School Belfry Theatre Club and performing arts associate, and serve as the choreographer for the Upper School (Belfry) Musical. The ideal candidate will bring strong classroom management, choreography, and performance production skills, as well as a collaborative spirit.
This is a full-time long-term sub position to join our community from December 1, 2026-March 14, 2027 with benefits included.

•Hold a degree in Dance, a related field of study or possess significant studio and professional experience

Core Job Responsibilities
This role is a full-time teaching position with the following major responsibilities:
Daytime Teaching, 8:20 am - 3:00 pm
•Teach/lead one course, Dance Technique and Composition (Upper School)
oTeach dance technique classes throughout the semester (Jazz, Modern and Ballet, however, other genres are welcomed)
oMentor embodied research on influential dance artists
oTeach compositional techniques
•Co-teach one course, Musical Theater (Upper School)
•Perform administrative responsibilities as the Belfry and Performing Arts Associate, including rehearsal schedules, ticketing, as needed MS/US Choir support and Front of House management. Ticketing and Front of House duties will culminate in managing each performance.
After-School Commitments, 3:00-6:30 pm (flexible)
•Attend musical auditions and lead a dance audition.
•Lead dance rehearsals for the US Belfry Musical on scheduled days.
•Attend a few weekend rehearsals/run throughs.
•Be present for all tech rehearsals 3:00-7:30pm (March 1st -March 11th) + shows (March 12th-March 14th).
Additional Qualifications
Strong knowledge of dance technique, choreography, and production.
Ability to work in a collaborative environment with fellow directors and student designers.
Ability to supervise student-led creative work and provide constructive feedback.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Experience with performance, production and costuming preferred.
