Juilliard Announces 2019-20 Chamber Music Season

Juilliard has announced its roster of chamber music concerts and recitals for the 2019-20 season.

The Daniel Saidenberg Faculty Recital Series features annual appearances by the school’s resident faculty ensembles, the American Brass Quintet (Wednesday, November 20, 2019, 7:30 p.m., in Paul Hall) and the Juilliard String Quartet (Thursday, December 12, 2019 and Thursday, April 16, 2020, 7:30 p.m., in Alice Tully Hall).
 
In addition, Juilliard will present the annual ChamberFest, January 13 to 15, 2020, in Paul Hall, Peter Jay Sharp Theater, and Alice Tully Hall. Juilliard’s Wednesdays at One series in Alice Tully Hall is presented most weeks during the school year with a hiatus during school holidays. These free, hour-long concerts are performed by Juilliard artists, and no tickets are required.
 
Additional faculty recitals in the fall semester will be presented by organist Paul Jacobs (Tuesday, September 10, 2019, 7:30 p.m., in Paul Hall); violinistCatherine Cho, violist Hsin-Yun Huang, cellist Natasha Brofsky, and pianist Robert McDonald in a piano quartet concert (Thursday, October 10, 2020, 7:30 p.m., in Paul Hall); and violist Misha Amory and pianist Thomas Sauer (Friday, October 18, 2019, 7:30 p.m., in Paul Hall) with violist Hsin-Yun Huang. In the spring semester, cellist Astrid Schween (Thursday, January 16, 2020, in Paul Hall) and collaborative pianist Lydia Brown (Tuesday, March 17, 2020, 7:30 p.m., in Paul Hall) will present recitals.
 
Juilliard student pianists Michael Davidman and Jaeden Laramie Izik-Dzurko, winners of Juilliard’s 2019 Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, will give a duo recital on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. in Paul Hall.
 
Juilliard pianist Mackenzie Melemed has been selected to perform in the eighth annual Leo B. Ruiz Memorial Recital, which takes place Friday, December 13, 2019, at 7:30 p.m. in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall.
 
Juilliard’s new graduate resident string quartet, the Ulysses Quartet, will give the annual Lisa Arnhold Memorial Recital on Friday, May 6, 2020, at 7:30 p.m., in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. 
 
Sonatenabend concerts showcase Juilliard collaborative piano students and student instrumentalists. Performances take place in Paul Hall on Wednesdays on October 9, 2019 (6 p.m.); October 23, 2019 (6 p.m.); November 13, 2019 (6 p.m.); December 4, 2019 (6 p.m.); January 22, 2020 (6 p.m.); February 19, 2020 (7 p.m.); March 25, 2020 (6 p.m.); and April 8, 2020 (6 p.m.). The concerts are free, and no tickets are required.
