Kidzter.com, the music website for kids, has released the first book in its Tune-Travel series, The Kidzter Kids Meet Motown.

This chapter book features Eva, Carlos and Jimi, in the fabric of 1960s Detroit as witnesses to Hitsville, USA.  The book begins with “the worst argument ever” among young musicians. As the story unfolds, the Kidzter kids learn the social skills needed to work together.

San Francisco Chronicle music critic Joel Selvin says, “A time travel trip back to Motown glory when everything was uptight (alright) for a trio of today’s youth. What a great way for kids to learn the love of music history…”

Softcover from Amazon, $5.99 and ebook from Amazon, Nook, and iTunes, $2.99.

Kidzter books, music almanacs and the Rockabyes and Kitty Kats band albums are geared to young people (Age 5-10) but there’s no doubt grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles and teachers will share the enjoyable trips down memory lane.

Music Almanacs: furthering its goal of entertaining while educating, Kidzter offers its music history almanacs – “On This Day In Music” – available for purchase in 12 individual month editions ($0.99 each) or the complete year ($5.99). There is also an On This Day In Music feature on the Kidzter website. A download purchase for the season is the December Music Almanac which includes historical renditions of holiday tunes.

Music Albums: The Rockabyes band characters are the “teaching faculty” at the Kidzter Music School. Their voices are provided by well-known musicians including Maria Muldaur (“Midnight At The Oasis”), Marty Balin of Jefferson Starship (“Miracles”), John “Marmaduke” Dawson of the New Riders of the Purple Sage and Dan Hicks of Dan Hicks And His Hot Licks. Songs include “Rockin’ Robin” and “The Bear Song.

The second Kidzter band, The Kitty Kats (Katerina, Annabella and Rodney) perform songs including “Space Cat Odyssey” and “We Will Meow You.”

Kidzter creator Bob Heyman holds a Masters in Education from Harvard and is credited with coining the term “edutainment” (for the National Geographic Society).
