Today, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) announced the cancellation of this week’s two new, live DSO Digital Concerts due to a positive COVID-19 test result received by conductor, violinist, and countertenor Dmitry Sinkovsky.
The DSO continues to employ best-in-class health and safety protocols, including regular weekly testing, extensive cleaning of the Max M. and Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center, and social distancing measures on stage. All on-site personnel wear masks before and after each concert, while conductors, string players, percussionists, and support staff wear masks during each performance.
This week’s concerts were to have featured Sinkovsky conducting and performing a variety of repertoire with the DSO, including works by Vivaldi, Handel, Mozart, and Beethoven. In their place, DSO Digital Concerts on Thursday and Friday will feature an encore presentation, spread across the two nights, of the April 27, 2019 program conducted by Nicholas McGegan. Music includes Vivaldi’s Gloria RV 589, mandolin concertos by Vivaldi and Anna Clyne with guest soloist Avi Avital, Vivaldi’s Concerto for Strings RV 114, and Vivaldi’s Concerto Grosso RV 565.
