The 2020 season will begin once again with the DCI Tour Premiere in the Motor City and end in the Circle City with DCI World Championships.

Along the way from Detroit to Indianapolis, Drum Corps International’s Summer Tour will bring both new additions and familiar traditions.

During the 52 days from June 18 to August 8, the 2020 DCI Tour will showcase more than 40 open- and world-class drum corps along with numerous SoundSport teams participating in more than 100 competitive events from coast to coast. In addition to many of the familiar stops, the expansive tour will also include some new twists and turns.

The season-opening DCI Tour Premiere at Detroit’s Ford Field will bring together a lineup of six of last season’s top-12 corps on June 18 and will feature the 2020 debut performances of the Bluecoats, Blue Stars, Boston Crusaders, Carolina Crown, Cavaliers, and Crossmen. As in several recent years, the event will also broadcast live to select movie theaters across the country.

The next day, DCI’s Pacific Region corps will begin their competition in Clovis, California. Then, DCI West on June 20 at Stanford will certainly deliver the usual excitement and flair that Bay Area fans have come to expect.

Anchoring the DCI Tour schedule will be some of the biggest and most popular venues of the summer to highlight the spectacular energy and performances of 8,000+ corps members.

Among these shows will be early-season locations like Pasadena’s Rose Bowl on June 27, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on July 5, and Denver’s Mile High Stadium on July 12.

Also, on July 12, corps will arrive in St. Louis for the first regional event – the DCI Midwestern Championship at The Dome at America’s Center. A total of 18 World and Open Class corps will perform there as part of the St. Louis lineup.

DCI’s annual Texas tour be a bit different this year because of a scheduling conflict with the Alamodome, but it will still provide the same electrifying competition. The annual DCI Southwestern Championship will divide into two locations — San Antonio and Corpus Christi on July 18. Other events that week in Denton, Austin, Katy, Mesquite, and McKinney will round out the march across the Lone Star state.

Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro will once again host the Masters of the Summer Music Games on July 24. Continuing regional competition, the DCI Southeastern Championship at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium on July 25. With the schedule changes in Texas, this will be the only opportunity prior to the DCI World Championships to see every single World Class corps in one place on the same day.

Following tradition, the last weekend of the regular season will showcase the entire complement of World Class corps at the DCI Eastern Classic in Allentown, Pennsylvania on July 31 and August 1.

Open Class corps will kick off DCI’s World Championship series of events again this year in at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion on August 3 and 4. Competition moves to Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium for the Prelims competition on August 6 as DCI continues hosting World Championship events in the spectacular venue. The top 25 corps will advance to the Semifinals competition on August 7, and the top 12 will contend for the title of 2020 DCI World Champion on August 8.
