The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami has announced the upcoming schedule through March 6 for its Frost Music Live concert series.

Since the pandemic began, Frost Music Live has made a commitment to become a virtual stage celebrating the artistry, musical diversity and resiliency of the school’s faculty, students, and alumni, performing for you, in a variety of exciting performances that are all free on You Tube. In order to maintain everyone’s safety during these challenging times strict safety protocols continue to be in place at the school.

The world-renowned Thalea String Quartet shares their wisdom and an inside look into string quartet life in an open virtual masterclass, moderated by viola professor Jodi Levitz, featuring Frost student ensembles performing live on the Gusman stage. Thalea String Quartet performs live remotely in an afternoon of delight! Listen to Joseph Haydn’s String Quartet in D major, Op. 20, no. 4 (“Sun”), Sivunittinni by Inuk composer Tanya Tagaq, and Five Folksongs in Counterpoint by African-American composer Florence Beatrice Price. The Thalea String Quartet brings together artists of Nigerian, Venezuelan, Japanese and Canadian heritage. With repertoire as diverse as its members, and every bit as exuberant, Thalea connects with audiences on a musical emotional and personal level, from first-time listeners to chamber music aficionados.

This performance will feature two pianists, Jr. Connor Rohrer and Sr. Ray McCurrie, along with bassist Patrick Leavy and drummer Joseph Enright. Two of classical music’s most celebrated artists join forces for a special evening. The prestigious members of the Frost School faculty, multi-Emmy award winner and GRAMMY nominee Gerard Schwarz will conduct the Frost Symphony Orchestra with special guest Santiago Rodriguez. Rodriguez who is hailed as “one of the finest pianists in the world” joins the orchestra for Beethoven’s Concerto No. 5, known as the Emperor Concerto. Live: Love is the Key (The Cancerian Theme) – Isaiah Sharkey –  He has worked with, recorded, and toured as lead guitarist with several world-renown and GRAMMY award winning artists including John Mayer, Patti Labelle, Christopher Martin of Coldplay, Paul Simon, Ruben Studdard and many others. Isaiah Sharkey fuses together his background in rock, gospel, jazz, R&B, blues, and funk to create an original sound with an unmistakable dose of soul. His highly anticipated debut album Love, Life, Live, was released in September 2017 and earned him the iHeart Radio Artist of the Month Award in November for his single “It’s A Shame” featuring DJ Jazzy Jeff.
