The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami has announced three new faculty hires for 2018-2019.
The announcement was made by Shelton G. Berg, Dean of the Frost School of Music, who stated: “The Frost School is renowned for world-class and innovative faculty, who are dedicated to fostering a dynamic and caring learning environment for talented students. I am very excited to have attracted these new colleagues, and I eagerly anticipate the enrichment they will bring to our culture and reputation.”
Jennifer Grim will join the Frost faculty as Associate Professor of Flute. Grim, who was recently honored with the 2017 Teacher of the Year Award from the UNLV College of Fine Arts will assume her position beginning in the fall of 2019.
Valerie Coleman joins the Frost faculty as Assistant Professor of Performance, Chamber Music and Entrepreneurship as of August 2018. In her new position, Coleman will have a leadership role in the comprehensive 21st century skills building for performing musicians.
Jeanette Thompson is joining the faculty as a full time lecturer in Vocal Performance, effective August 2018. Professor Thompson is known as an outstanding vocal pedagogue. She has served on the faculties of University of Wisconsin-Madison, City University of New York-Medgar Evers, Vassar College, Lehigh University and Izmir State Conservatory of Music in Turkey, where she founded a singing competition for young singers and served as president of its jury for nine years.
