DSO Announces 2018 William Davidson Neighborhood Concert Series

This 2018 William Davidson Neighborhood Concert Series from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s (DSO) will allow fans to experience the DSO in West Bloomfield, Southfield, Beverly Hills, Plymouth, Bloomfield Hills, Grosse Pointe, and Clinton Township.

General admission subscriptions and four-concert packages are now available, and a donation of $25 or more to the DSO’s Annual Fund waives all subscription fees. The season comprises of eight concerts in total.

2018 will mark the seventh year of the William Davidson Neighborhood Concert Series, and Leonard Slatkin will serve his final season as music director before becoming music director laureate next year.

Some of the season’s programs include Gábor Takács-Nagy conducting a program featuring Haydn’s Symphony No. 104, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, and Tchaikovsky’s “Variations on a Rococo Theme” with cellist Joshua Roman; “A Scandinavian State of Mind,” conducted by Alexander Prior, featuring music by Sibelius and Nielsen as well as Shostakovich’s Cello Concerto No. 1 with Swedish-Danish cellist Andreas Brantelid; and Speranza Scappucci conducting Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for Winds, featuring DSO soloists on a program that also includes Rossini’s William Tell Overture and Schubert’s Overture in the Italian Style and Symphony No. 4.
