LAKELAND, FL – To provide their subscribers with a robust selection of educational content, music software company MusicFirst has entered into a new collaboration with educational music publisher, Excelcia Music Publishing.

More details from MusicFirst (www.musicfirst.com) and Excelcia (www.excelciamusic.com):

This joint effort allows MusicFirst customers who have subscribed to their performance assessment software, PracticeFirst, to access Excelcia Music Publishing’s concert band, orchestra and choral titles in the app at no additional cost.

As a composer-led publisher, Excelcia Music Publishing provides new flexible and full-version school performance music, as well as solo, chamber music and resources for music educators.

“Excelcia Music Publishing is thrilled our music is now accessible to educators in the PracticeFirst content library. Excelcia Music Publishing’s catalog is filled with new pieces from outstanding and dedicated composers at all grade levels, and PracticeFirst provides an invaluable tool to keep students engaged, practicing and learning our fantastic pieces,” said Larry Clark, President, Excelcia Music Publishing. “We look forward to a long and wonderful collaboration with PracticeFirst to provide their subscribers with Excelcia Music Publishing’s dynamic and educationally-sound music, and together I know we will enhance curricula and inspire students.”

With widespread adoption of the PracticeFirst app during the COVID-19 pandemic, MusicFirst saw this as an opportunity to provide music educators with supplemental resources to assist with virtual learning.

“It’s so important for students to continue working on ensemble repertoire, even if in- person rehearsals have been temporarily limited,” said Rachel L’Heureux, Director of Marketing, MusicFirst. “By expanding the PracticeFirst content library to include Excelcia Music Publishing titles, we’ve been able to add a wealth of new choral, band, and orchestra titles for teachers to choose from. We’re incredibly happy to be able to increase access to repertoire, especially now.”

These new inclusions in the PracticeFirst content library answer a popular request from teachers: pieces with flexible instrumentation. Excelcia Music Publishing’s Flexcel Concert Works series is scored by key rather than instrument and provides genuine flexibility to the modern classroom. Flexcel band works can be played with any combination of wind, string & percussion instruments. Flexcel orchestra works can be played with any combo of string instruments and optional piano.

These pieces provide teachers with more flexibility to create dynamic chamber ensembles during hybrid and virtual learning, and then expand to fully-scored versions of the pieces once full rehearsals resume.
