The Moody Blues is using its Las Vegas residency to give back. The band, in partnership with AEG Live and The Venetian Las Vegas, will host a special educational event, “Jobs in Music.” On Tuesday, October 11, students from JD Smith Middle School will be welcomed to The Venetian Theatre and given the opportunity to learn about the diversity of careers in music. Speakers will include AEG Live executives, Venetian executives, and the production team behind “The Moody Blues: Nights in Las Vegas,” which kicks off a five-show limited engagement on Friday, October 7.

“Music changes lives. It certainly changed all of ours,” said bass guitarist and vocalist John Lodge. “We want kids who are who passionate about music to know that there are countless paths to get into the business and earn a livelihood doing what they love.”

“Jobs in Music” is an educational initiative designed to expose students to the wide range of career opportunities in the music industry. Students will receive a backstage and front-of-house tour, where they’ll be introduced to everything from production to ticketing to concert promoting.

Speakers from AEG Live, one of the largest live music companies in the world, will be on hand to discuss the variety of rewarding jobs in production and promotion, including booking, marketing, artist management, and more.

The Moody Blues Tour Director Mark Hogue and Production Coordinator Karen Colvin will share their stories about breaking into the music industry and field questions from students looking to do the same. Legendary drummer of The Moody Blues Graeme Edge will also be present to meet and take photos with attending students.

The Moody Blues – Justin Hayward (lead guitar, vocals), John Lodge (bass guitar, vocals) and Graeme Edge (drums) – have been at the forefront of the classic rock music scene since the ‘60s with their multi-Platinum, Platinum, and Gold albums and singles hitting Billboard at #1, Top 5, Top 10, Top 20 and Top 40. Their illustrious roster of hits includes: “Nights In White Satin,” “Tuesday Afternoon,” “Ride My See Saw,” “The Story In Your Eyes,” “Isn’t Life Strange,” “Question,” “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band),” “Your Wildest Dreams,” and many more.

Donations to benefit Communities In Schools will be encouraged at all five performances of “The Moody Blues: Nights in Las Vegas” on October 7, 8, 12, 14, and 15. The show features an exclusive set list that pays tribute to their decades-long career as one of the most successful and influential rock and roll bands in history.
