In partnership with Noteflight, the courses also come with a Noteflight Learn subscription allowing teachers to take advantage of the many additionally wonderful things that Noteflight offers. With this platform, students can compose original music online, and teachers can grade their students’ progress online.
Young Composers & Improvisors Workshop is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that since 2012 has offered music teachers a progressive curriculum allowing for every participating student to compose original compositions regardless of prior experience. Our two main courses (Music Works 1 and Music Works 2) are a combination of interactive web lessons and pre-made Noteflight assignments all contained within our custom LMS called YCIW Classroom. Students can proceed through the course at their own pace while receiving feedback from their teacher. All of the lessons are auto graded while the Noteflight assignments are all submitted in one location making it easy for teachers to see student work and provide them feedback. By the completion of each course students will have composed their very own original composition scored for chamber orchestra. YCIW Classroom is recommended for use by students in grades 4 thru 12.
