The Eastman School of Music professor and Brighton, N.Y. resident David Higgs was recently awarded is awarded St. Malachy’s – The Actors’ Chapel’s Paul Creston Award for his contributions to the organ music community. The Eastman School of Music professor and Brighton, N.Y. resident David Higgs was recently awarded is awarded St. Malachy’s – The Actors’ Chapel’s Paul Creston Award for his contributions to the organ music community. The award was presented in November at the Beacon Theatre in New York City during a Voices United Benefit Concert. The award is said to be awarded to those who “embody excellence in the arts and are significant figures in church music, media, and the performing arts.”
Higgs has performed at Christmas concerts in both San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Hall and Los Angeles’ Walt Disney Concert Hall. He also regularly appears at events throughout the world, including the International Organ Festivals and Competitions of Bremen, Calgary, Dublin, and more. He has also served on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music and is now chair of the Organ Department at the Eastman School of Music.
